The Archos 70 might be, if not the best bang for your buck in the sub 300 dollar android tablet market. It has all the features most people want and then some. Archos is a name brand European company and not some Asian knock off. The Archos 70 has a 7 inch 800 x 480 pixel high-resolution capacitive touch screen, not the inferior resistive touch screen found on most cheap tablets. It features a 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, 8 GB hard drive, expandable to 250 GB hard drive.

Comes installed with Android 2.2, and has front facing camera for video chat, with a kick stand. The battery is pretty great you can enjoy about 36 hours of audio, 7 hours of video, or 10 hours Web browsing on a single charge. But the most appealing feature of the Archos 70 is its size and weight, measuring just.43 inches thick and weighing in at 11 ounces; it is an absolute pleasure to play around with. You could easily hold it in one hand and forgot that you are holding it.

Enough with the features, what can it do? The Archos is great for playing games, supports flash natively meaning you could browse any website that has flash without getting any errors, and plays games effortlessly with its 3D graphic accelerator. It has HDMI out, and you can connect it to HD display and use the Archos 70 as your controller. You can also use it as movie player, go on Netflix or Youtube and stream high quality HD movies and videos to your TV.

Overall the Archos 70 starting at only 275 dollars is a great product for its price. It cost hundreds of dollars less than the Galaxy tab, while having many if not better features. For its price you could not ask for more.

Look, Design, Feel (8/10)

Nexus One is sleek, light and an exceptionally thin smartphone, but gives brilliant power to its visual applications to the delight of the user. The back cover is made from a rubber-like plastic, which boosts users' grip of the phone and it has 4-set of touch-sensitive controls that can be found right under the touch screen.

The Nexus One, which is built by HTC for Google, has an Android OS 2.1 on a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. As the Nexus One applies the operating system of Google, it gives easy and convenient access to a variety of Google's online services such as email, calendar and navigation. It has a 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, 4GB microSD in-box expandable to 32GB. It has a 3.7-inch wide WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) AMOLED touchscreen with 100,000:1 typical contrast ratio and 1ms typical response rate, wherein its high resolution, high pixel density organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display is close to perfection. The picture quality is very impressive, with great contrast and profusion of colors! It is just one of the best displays in the mobile market! Nexus One's 5-megapixel camera has autofocus and has a trackball navigation capability. It has a LED flash and a 720x480 video capture @ 20FPS, and dual microphones for noise cancelling. There is no slide-out keyboard for this smartphone because everything is done on its onscreen virtual keyboard.

There are 2 different shades of grey for the Nexus One. Physical buttons are almost invisible on this phone. The phone is grey, but it is available in two different grey shades. There are almost no physical buttons on the HTC Nexus One. It has only the volume rocker on the top left side of the phone and a power button on the top of the volume rocker. The front of the phone also features a trackball below the screen. The back of HTC Nexus One houses the 5 megapixel camera lend and a LED flash unit on its right.

Features (7/10)

The phone runs on the Android OS 2.1. The last version compresses the visual aspect of the OS and the 2.1 brings some fresh features such as Facebook integration, or Quick Contacts. With its 1GHz processor, it is not a pain in the pocket to buy all new hardware to take advantage of a smartphone's high-end capabilities.

The small white trackball of Nexus One is seemingly fabulous because it can be used to scroll up and scroll down in menus, and using the trackball makes web browsing fun and easy. It lights up upon receiving messages or calls and even on missed ones. The power on/off button is placed on top left, while there is a 3.5mm jack port on the right. The power button can be used to lock/unlock the device. This is one nice feature for left-handed users because this is the only button that can change the power from standby.

The microUSB port for charging can be found on the bottom side of the phone. Above the display are two hidden sensors for the light and proximity. On the back portion of the phone is the 5-megapixel camera with flash and a little loudspeaker to the right side. A Google logo can also be found in the middle of the smartphone and the logo of HTC near the bottom.

Live wallpapers with animated backgrounds enables interactive feature with the phone. However, this may entail added consumption to the battery while playing the features of the wallpapers. Nexus One has smooth animations in its Image Gallery wherein transitions and sorting options are made easy.

The high quality 5-megapixel built-in camera of the phone has the maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. Taking photos at night time is never a problem with this phone.

With the Android 2.1 feature of this phone, it is possible to dictate messages such as SMS and emails to text, integrate multiple accounts in Gmail. There is also the QWERTY keyboard for those who do not choose to use the 'speech to text' feature. It easily plays H.263 videos, but unfortunately the phone has no DivX/XviD support. It can support.mp4,.3gp,.3g2,.m4v video formats though.

Other qualities of this smartphone include a calculator, a speakerphone, a compass, an A2DP stereo Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, text and multimedia messaging, and the user can access multiple Google applications like YouTube, Google Voice, Picasa, Google Talk, and Google Goggles.

Connectivity (7/10)

HTC Google Nexus One has all possible connectivity tools that must be included in a state-of-the-art device like the GPRS and EDGE class 10, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA 2 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, and microUSB 2.0. Nexus One can perform speeds of up to 5595 Kbit/ download and 4023 Kbit/s on Wi-Fi connection, 835 Kbit/s download and 56 Kbit/s upload on the Orange 3G+ network and 149 Kbit/s download and 89 Kbit/s upload on EDGE network.

Nexus One can be connected through T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T and soon, Sprint. The user can use any of the mentioned telecom providers since the phone is an unlocked phone.

Performance (8/10)

The phone is easy to use, from power on/off button to the trackball. Its sensitivity to web connection is superb since it is powered by Google resources. Its multimedia features that include the 5-megapixel camera and video recording are impressive, except for the camera wherein taking photos during intense lighting is quiet a concern. However, capturing images at night time is remarkable. Crashing web connectivity is never a problem for this phone.

Value for Money (7/10)

Nexus One is quite expensive but with the features and applications included in this smartphone, its price is worth the purchase, especially for businessmen who will enjoy its fast and easy applications.

Once upon a time, when our parent century was barely forty, highly powered future computers were imagined to be technological titans. To be effective, each computational colossus would need to be the size of a skyscraper, or so scientists speculated.

Equipped with more features, a faster processor and a lush new design job, the new range of Toshiba PC tablets is going to be the best yet. Bet against these Toshiba tablet beauties at your peril!
Of course, there are more tablets, but the aforementioned are at the forefront of this technological arms race. Each PC tablet has something to recommend it, whether it's a windows 8 tablet or a Web OS tablet. New faces like the Android PC tablet represent fresh blood and a clean slate, two things that the computer industry has needed for quite some time now.
While Apple and Microsoft dug their respective trenches and settled in for the long battle, the folks behind the Android PC tablet were free to incorporate the best of both worlds. As a result, an Android PC tablet is a great model if you like elements of both windows 8 tablet and Web OS tablet models.

Apple's iPad was surrounded with so much hype before its release. By the time it hit the store shelves, a lot of people went crazy and bought themselves a new one. However, little did we know that somewhere on the other side of the world, a different version of (pretty much) the same device was on the works.

Now, before you get the wrong idea, the Android MID 7" Tablet PC is not an iPad imitation. Instead, it's akin in principle to the Samsung Galaxy, both being tablet PC's running on the Android platform. In this article, let us review the product and see how good (or how bad) it is, when compared to the industry-leading iPad.

Battery Life

Now, the iPad boasts more than eight hours of use without recharging, while the Android MID 7" lasts for less than four. What's more, there have been reports that many units have issues with charging, as the batteries are often defective. Thus, make sure that you are buying from a reputable seller in order to avoid getting a mobile device that is far from mobile.

On-screen Keyboard Sensitivity

One thing I noticed right away is that the on-screen keyboard is not as responsive as I wanted it to be. It takes almost half a second for a character to appear on screen, which translates to at least 2 minutes to write a single tweet. I guess I cannot expect much from a USD 100 device, but I can't help to want for more.

Connectivity

Unlike the iPad, this one does not have a SIM card slot. While many decry the iPad's being iffy about the SIM card size, this one has no SIM capability whatsoever. This becomes a problem or users like me who use SIM-based broadband Internet.

External Keyboard and Pouch

The Android MID 7" Tablet PC has optional accessories, so I decided to get an external keyboard that's installed on a carrying case. One thing I noticed is that the external keyboard has a USB connector, while the tablet PC does not. Because of this, you will still need to use an adapter (comes with the default package) so that the keyboard will work.

Now, the pouch is actually a misnomer. Why? Because the clamps that will hold the device are spaced too far apart. Because of this, the tablet can fall off of the carrying case at any given time, which defeats the purpose of the accessory in the first place.

So what's good about it?

The Price

At less than 100 USD, buying the Android MID 7" Tablet PC should be painless to most people. It can serve as a good training ground for Android OS novices. Why? Because given its price, even if you break it, you won't feel that bad.

A tablet personal computer (tablet PC) is a portable personal computer equipped with a touch screen as a primary input device. Comparing laptops, tablet personal computers may not be equipped with a keyboard, in which case they use a virtual onscreen substitute. All tablet personal computers have a wireless adapter for Internet and local network connection. The term was made popular as a concept presented by Microsoft in 2001, yet the Tablet computer market was invigorated by Apple through the introduction of the iPad device in 2010. Apple's iPad, are readying their own devices for what is already proving to be a rapidly growing marketplace. According to Apple, the company shipped "4.19 million iPads during the quarter." During the Q3 earnings call, in the first full quarter in which the iPad was available, that number stood at just over 3 million.

 

The iPad only weighs 1.5lbs, gives you a display of 9.56 in (24.3 cm) × 7.47 in (19.0 cm) and is only 0.5 inches thick. The battery Life of iPad is up to 10 hours. These dimensions couldn't be any handier and puts the iPad in a class of its own. iPad use of the iPhone OS and its clever data-entry scheme - virtual keyboard, multitouch gestures and all - turns the iPad into an immeasurably more usable device than any Windows-based tablet PC we've seen. In general, the iPad it's not a Netbook killer, but it will take away revenues from that market.

 

Meanwhile, Dell Streak tablet device, perhaps is basically just a smartphone. Its five-inch touchscreen puts it somewhere in between an iPhone (screen size: 3.5 inches) and an iPad (9.7 inches). The Streak's operating system is limited. Like many current and future iPad competitors, it uses Google's Android OS. Then, Samsung is readying its new tablet, the Galaxy. It is a true tablet, with a touchscreen that measures 7 inches diagonally. When it is released in late October or early November, it too will be sold through mobile carriers — all four big ones (AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon), in fact. The Galaxy will run on Android version 2.2.
Many of the apps available in the Android Market, when scaled to fit on the Galaxy's comparatively gargantuan 7-inch display, are not going to look all that pretty, if they look like anything at all.There is another Android upgrade in the works (Android 3.0, a.k.a. "Gingerbread"), which may play more nicely with tablets like the Galaxy.

HP is coming a webOS-based tablet unofficially dubbed the PalmPad for release early next year. Things get very muddled, however, when the talk turns to HP's Android tablet and Windows tablet PC plans.

For starters, design is less a factor for tablets than in the other categories. A tablet is supposed to be a mostly featureless panel of glass: that is the whole point. The hardware will also be fairly standardized (display, cameras, microphone, chipset). The only question will be who has the most and best apps.And if that is the key (and it is), then consumers are not actually the people that tablet makers should be concerned about right now — it is the app developers. Win them over, and the shoppers will follow.
