Tablet Splitting: Inconsistent and Potentially Dangerous

Tablet Splitting: Inconsistent and Potentially Dangerous: used tablet pc

Healthcare providers and patients frequently split tablets for a number of reasons. Chiefly, tablet splitting is used to (a) make the tablets easier to swallow, (b) adjust the dosage or c) reduce the cost (for example, a 90-day supply is split will last six months). But a new study reports that tablet splitting is potentially dangerous because it produces a wide variability in the dosage the patient actually receives.

Pharmaceutical scientist Charlotte Verrue and colleagues of Ghent University in Berlin to measure how much the tablet weight differs from its expected weight when split by different individuals and how much of the tablet is lost when the tablet is split into unusable fragments. Five volunteers were given eight commercially available tablets of different sizes and shapes that are routinely found in nursing homes.

They drugs included Marevan (warfarin), Lanoxin (digoxin), and Sinemet (Levodopa and carbidopa) and Metformin (metformin). Of the different tablet types, three had one score down the middle, two had two scores like a cross, and three were unscored. Volunteers were asked to split the tablets using different routinely used methods: a commercial tablet cutter, by hand for prescored tablets, by scissors for unscored tablets, or by kitchen knife. Before and after splitting each tablet and its subsequent fragments were weighed.

Verrue found that nearly a third of all tablets sliced by any method investigated varied by more than 15% from the prescribed dose. Using the tablet cutter was most accurate, but 26.5% of the tablet fragments produced were off by more than 15%. The kitchen knife was the worst. Thirty-three percent of all tablets slice by kitchen knife were off by more than 15%.

Splitting with the tablet cutter also resulted in significantly less weight loss from the tablet than the other methods. For example, using the cutter resulted in 1.56+/- 2.48% loss in total tablet weight compared with 2.36+/-4.36 for scissors or by hand, and 3.42+/-4.55% using the kitchen knife. The maximum percentage of tablet loss by each method was 26%, 36%, and 37% respectively.

In some cases, these significant deviations from the expected dose that occur during tablet splitting are not a problem. For example, there are some chronic therapies where a patient takes the drug daily and it doesn't matter if they receive a little more or a little less each day. Tablet splitting becomes dangerous when it is important that a patient receives the exact same dose everyday.

Moreover, some medications have a very small window between when the dose is beneficial and when it becomes toxic. If the dose that patients receives varies even slightly because of inaccuracies in tablet splitting, a patient could be severely harmed.

To protect patients, Veurre and colleagues suggest that pharmaceutical companies market smaller doses of their drugs so that patients don't have to split them. However, if patients still wish to split their tablets, they should be warned that not all tablets can be split safely.

It's best to ask a pharmacist or a physician before splitting tablets so that they can alert patients to any potential risks. Finally, according to the results of Veurre's study patients should use tablet-cutting devices because they are more accurate.

Shopping for a Touchscreen Tablet? Some Options for Mobile Computing With a Tablet

Shopping for a Touchscreen Tablet? Some Options for Mobile Computing With a Tablet: android touchscreen tablet

Although Apple started the new revolution of mobile computing with its wildly popular iPad, many smartphone and netbook manufacturers are now jumping on the bandwagon. With so many consumers purchasing the Apple iPad, it just makes sense that the PC industry would want a piece of the tablet mobile computing pie. Dell, Samsung, Avaya, Lenovo, and Cisco have all recently announced plans to bring their own touch screen tablets to the market in the next several months.

With all these new tablets entering the market, how can you decide which one will provide the maximum computing, collaboration, and mobile unified communications capabilities? There are several considerations to take into account before shelling out your cash on a new mobile device.

Shopping for a Tablet? Factors to Consider

Let's start with operating systems. Of course, the iPad uses Apple's iOS, but the majority of new tablets hitting the market will be based on the Android OS made popular by the latest smartphones. The Android platform has already proven its exceptional capabilities for a wide variety of utilizations. Lenovo is the sole exception, opting for Microsoft's Windows 7 OS.

Along with the Android OS, all will utilize 3G, the third generation of developments in wireless technology for increased bandwidth. Only one, the Avaya DVD, is instead offering Dongle for security authorization.

What about size and weight? At just a half a pound and with a tiny five-inch screen, the Dell Streak is the smallest of the new tablets. It's also one of the cheapest, with a proposed price of $ 550; of course it also has the fewest features. At the top end of the scale is the Lenovo X201, which weighs in at three pounds but features a screen just over twelve inches.

When it comes to Wi-Fi technology standards, the choices are 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, or 802.11n.Apple and Cisco are the only two manufacturers to currently offer them all.

As far as features in relation to price and size, none of the new tablets really comes anywhere close to what you get with the Apple iPad. Since it's been on the market for a while now, the price has come down and it's the beefiest when it comes to computing capabilities.

Tablet Mobile Computing Success

Unfortunately, tablets are not the best choice if you need heavy-duty computing functionality. But when it comes to communication and collaboration, a tablet is a good smartphone alternative. Email access, texting, and media playing are the best features on a tablet, taking smartphone capability to the next level by offering a larger screen. Another advantage of a tablet over a smartphone is the ability to use it as an eBook reader.

Since communication and collaboration are the two advantages of a tablet, it's best to connect these devices with synchronization service for your business. Choose a service that updates data between devices immediately and wirelessly. It's also a good idea to ensure that the synching works across platforms so that Apple and Android users can share calendars, contacts, and project notes. Some mobile syncing applications will offer extras, such as free antivirus and anti-spam service.

Some Disadvantages of Tablet PCs

The biggest disadvantage of a tablet is data input. Yes, the touch screen is larger than a smartphone, but tablets just aren't set up to easily input data other than through check boxes. Freeform text and graphics are often a requirement of mobile computing in many businesses and any of the tablets currently available or proposed do not address this capability.

Tablets make mobile computing easier but they are not computing workhorses so may not be as productive as you're hoping. You may want one now but look at your options before investing in one, particularly if you already own a smartphone and investigate available apps / software tools that could make your tablet work the way you need it too.

Windows 8: Good For Laptops And Tablets

Windows 8: Good For Laptops And Tablets: samsung windows tablet

Microsoft recently held its BUILD conference, a developer-only event at which the highlight was the unveiling of Windows 8. It wasn't exactly a shock reveal; there's been plenty of information on Windows 8 available up in bits and pieces, but this was Microsoft's first peek under the curtain at the nitty-gritty of Windows 8 itself. As you might expect, Windows 8 is expected to run more quickly than its predecessors, but then, Microsoft's very unlikely to reveal that it'd run slower. A lot of small details emerged, such as the fact that support for NFC (Near Field Communications) will be built into Windows 8, as will simpler setups for refreshing a system prior to selling it, removing malware more efficiently and a revamp of some standard Windows user interface sections such as the Task Manager. Cloud synchronisation and a very Apple-like App store for Windows applications will also feature on the full desktop client, which at first glance looks an awful lot like Windows 7 does now. That could well change, but a lot of the real meat of what Microsoft had to show off was to be seen in how it'll adapt Windows 8 for the tablet market.

Microsoft's had tilts at the tablet market for years now, but outside certain specialised niches, they've never had that much success -- especially in the era of the iPad. Windows 8 has a lot of tablet-specific features, including a full tablet user interface called Metro that Microsoft showed off at the Build conference on a Samsung supplied tablet that all attendees got to take away with them. Microsoft's built on the interface ideas it first showed off with its Windows Phone 7 devices, and the results are quite spectacular. It's also worth noting that while Windows tablets to date have all run on Intel hardware, Windows 8 will also run on more power-efficient ARM processors, although there will be tradeoffs for the ARM models, which won't run legacy Windows applications, just the specialised touchscreen ones. Whether by whatever time Windows 8 launches it'll be able to make a dent in the iPad's near dominance of the tablet market remains to be seen; a good half-dozen Android tablets haven't managed that, and the rest seem to be bogged down in legal battles with Apple.

Microsoft haven't announced a timeline for when Windows 8 will ship (except to say that it'll ship "when it's done"); at a guess I'd say we'd be lucky to see it on store shelves and in laptops, desktops and tablets before at least the middle of next year.

After a plethora of news and speculations Google now has its very own smart phone - Google nexus one which was released last month. Built by HTC, the product is independently branded by Google. The phone, launched as an option to Apples iPhone is a class product in its own right.

Though a few hiccups jarred the image of the phone at testing level, there seem to be none too much with the actual product itself.

The first thing that hits the user is that the phone is fast. It really is. It is easily the most advanced android based smart phone. With 1 GHz processor it makes up for the uneasiness that is normally associated with android OS. With the latest version of android, some of features such as moving wallpapers become panoply in the background. This may consume a little more power but its nice to look at on the smart phone's display.

The hardware is also catchy and stylish. Sleek and stylish, the phone has enough to catch the eye of speculators. Backed by rubber back and well rounded corners, the urbane product is a treat to set hands on. At 4.5 inches tall by 2.4 inches wide by 0.47 inches thick its one of the slimmest smart phones on the market. The track ball placed thoughtfully is totally unlike others. Easy to use and responsive, it is a pleasure to use.

The display of the phone is stupendous to state the least. It is crystal clear and has intuitive touch screen. The display is a delight but looses its sheen in bright light. The 5 MP camera does full justice to the superb display at hand. The chick phone has a voice text input function too. The drawback of this is that it requires a quiet environment to function in an apt manner but nonetheless its fun to use especially for Facebook updates.

Geeks especially may find this phone pretty awesome to state the least. There are extensive setting features and technicalities to shape up the interface. Though a Gmail account is a necessity, IMAP and POP3 web accounts can be set up really easily.

Well the Google Nexus One Phone touted as iPhone killer, there are some drawbacks that could well be improved in its next version. For starters, it does not have a multi touch feature. Also outlook calendar cannot be synchronized with the nexus one. A better touch key board won't hurt easy usage of the phone either.

Windows 8 Release Preview on a Tablet PC

tablet pc apps Videos

There's a new build of Windows 8 available called the Windows 8 Release Preview. We thought we'd take a look at how it works on our old HP TouchSmart TM2 tablet PC. Take a look at the video to check it out. Not a whole lot has changed within the primary operating system other than a nicer app launching animation. We still have the customizable live tiles on the start screen, but with the release preview, a lot of the bundled apps have been updated for stability and more features. The Pictures app has added a great new SkyDrive fetch feature. It's similar to what you have in the new web based version of SkyDrive where you can browse through the files on any computer that you have installed the SkyDrive app under your Live ID (if it's turned on). From the Pictures app, you can very easily browse through pictures on your other computers, in addition to the local computer, SkyDrive cloud storage itself, Facebook, and Flickr. You've also got very nicely designed new apps for Bing News, Sports, Finance, and Travel. They all feature large imagery and great looking typography along with horizontal scrolling. One feature I really like in the Travel app is the panorama views. The Music app now supports Zune Pass subscriptions, which is great for unlimited streaming and downloads of any kind of music you want. You've got a "Play to Xbox" button in both the Music and Video apps as well, which still seems a bit buggy with my Xbox. You've also got the Xbox games app where you can see ...

Office 2013 Preview on a Windows 8 Release Preview Tablet PC
Last week a free preview version of Office 2013 was released for Windows 7 and Windows 8 Preview. We decided to install it on our Windows 8 Release Preview release equipped HP TouchSmart TM2 Tablet and take it for a spin. The coolest part of Office 2013 is the new OneNote MX which is a Metro-style version of OneNote that is fully compatible with the new Windows 8 interface. It doesn't have all of the features of the desktop version of OneNote, but it is certainly more feature-rich than the iOS, Android, and Windows Phone versions of OneNote. You can finally view all types of content created in the desktop version of OneNote unlike other mobile versions. You can also rearrange pages and sections and notebooks, but features like extracting text from images, converting handwriting to text, and recording video/audio while taking notes are still missing. For those you'll have to launch the desktop version of OneNote 2013. However, OneNote MX also includes an excellent new interface design where controls appear in a radial menu accessible by a single button. Tapping the button to access the commands is fine and all, but if you already know which direction the command you want is hidden under, then all you have to do is tap and slide the button to activate that command. So for example if you want to undo something, just touch the radial menu button and slide to the left to activate the command without even having to open the menu. It's a very innovative way to access shortcuts ...

Pros And Cons Of The 10 Android Tablet: best cheap tablet pc

The best cheap tablet android deals that are being offered everywhere have been the talk of the town for quite a while now but what is it exactly about them that everyone is going absolutely nuts after them. With this article, we will be reviewing the pros and cons of the tablet and see what is there that people like or dislike about the 10" android tablet.

Pros of the 10" android tablet

Design

The initial series of 10" android tablet were more focused on the functional aspect of the gadget. They were technically more correct and appealing for the users. But with the advent of the new ones they have incorporated sexy design looks which make the 10" android tablet physically more attractive. The tablet is covered with a metal chassis made out of stainless steel which makes it very durable. In other words, it provides sturdiness with an element of style and fashion. The weight of the 10" android tablet is an astonishingly low four hundred and eighty grams making it all the more convenient for the users. It surely gives a different option to the customers who want to enjoy the usage of a sleek gadget.

Android

The use of Android is what makes this 10" android tablet so fascinating. The touch of the screen is very sensitive which means you do not have to keep rubbing your fingers against the screen to make it work. Just a slight touch of the pen or your fingers and you are ready to go. With the latest version of the operating system, it becomes more enjoyable to use.

Display

A display that is 10.1" in size makes it uses even more fascinating. It has a resolution of 1024x600 which provides a very crisp and vibrant color front to the user. The screen is non-responsive to sunlight which means it usable even at times of high sunlight unlike some of the other gadgets available. It has a multi touch option which makes the use of touch screen an absolute joy.

Kickstand

One great advantage of the 10" android tablet is that it comes with a kickstand in case you want to place it on a table and use it. This makes it more convenient and also saves money as you wouldn't be required to buy some costly accessory to serve as a kickstand.

Price

Its competitive advantage to quite an extent is the relatively low price it offers. There are best cheap tablet android deals for the users to explore and take advantage of.

Cons

Speed

One thing the 10 Android Tablet lacks is processing speed as compared to some of the other types of gadgets available. If you want to open a web page with flash or other heavy data, it becomes too slow and affects the overall processing of the gadget. The 256MB RAM is perhaps a major problem.

Apps

It has its own online application story but the problem it has is the limited number of applications available. If you compare it to the number of applications Apple's Ipad offers, they only have a fraction of that.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v: Design and display

Like the Samsung Galaxy S II Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v is made from sturdy feeling plastic and has a carbon-like finish on the rear. This adds style, and makes the tablet easy to grip. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v feels well built despite its plastic body, and manages to remain lightweight at 599g. However, it does lack the premium feel of the iPad 2 and the rear casing creaks when pressed near the charging port.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v's power button and volume control are the only physical buttons on the tablet.

A side-mounted headphone jack, a bottom-mounted proprietary charging/synchronising port and a SIM card slot keep the Galaxy Tab 10.1v's shell relatively clean looking. Like the iPad 2, the Galaxy Tab 10.1v doesn't have a memory card slot for extra storage, so the 16GB of internal memory will quickly fill up if you store a lot of videos and photos on the device.

As its name suggests, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v has a 10.1in capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1280x800. The original Galaxy Tab had a 7in display, and the new model competes directly with the 9.7in iPad 2. The screen is crisp and clear and has excellent brightness. However, it shares two flaws with the iPad 2 — the Galaxy Tab 10.1v is almost impossible to see in direct sunlight, and the display quickly becomes a grubby mess after limited use.

One advantage the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v Android tablet definitely holds over the iPad 2 is its cameras.

It has a rear 8-megapixel rear camera that doubles as a 1080p HD video recorder, and a 2-megapixel front camera for video calls — both take significantly better quality photos and video than the iPad 2. The interface of the camera app is also superb, but it is a shame you can't use the physical volume buttons to zoom in and out. Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v lacks HDMI connectivity, so you can't hook it up to a television or monitor.

We provide kinds of samsung batteries, such as samsung laptop batteries, samsung camcorder batteries, samsung phone batteries and more. You can find your samsung battery with high quality and low price.

Toshiba has landed the market with At300 which is of low price as compared to the ipad. iPad 2 best technology and features.

While talking about the flourishment of Samsung, Apple, and Blackberry then why should Toshiba lack behind. As the company is coming out with a innovative tablet to the United Kingdom. In brief you may call that gadget AT300 which is a 10.1 inch slate power driven by the quad-core Tegra 3 processor and runs on Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich.

AT200 is the ancestor of AT300 which was launched last year and did not impressed anyone. So the people have lots of doubts regarding this tablet whether it would be far better than the earlier one or not. But this time Toshiba has promised its fans that the company would deliver a brushed aluminum finish tablet moreover its back would possess a textured effect.

AT300 Tablet also has a SD card slot at the side for transferring the files very easily and it is slender tablet measures 8.95 thick which implies that it is quite thinner than the innovative ipad. It seems to be quite chubby and the metal band encircling the tablet just like the iphone 4S and possess a healthy screen resolution 1280x800 pixels. This resolution is just similar to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and the onscreen actions are sensibly understandable. Regarding the prices this is good news for its admirers that AT300 carries a sensible price tag and costs

Apple's iPad Outsells HP's PCs in Q1 2012

iPadsIt's no surprise that Apple is one of the top PC and technology makers in the world. What may be surprising is the fact that Apple has surpassed HP in computer unit sales and revenues for the first time ever, making the Cupertino giant the number one company. Apple can attribute a lot of this success to record sales of iPads and, instead of losing sales to low priced tablets, Apple said that it would continue to "innovate like crazy" in the tablet market.

The company reported quarterly sales of 15.4 million iPads and 5.2 million Macs, which gave Apple more than 20 million sales of dedicated computing devices. It was reported that HP's sales for the fourth quarter of 2011 were close to 14.7 million, with Lenovo and Dell selling 12.9 million and 11.6 million units, respectively. In addition to that, Apple's figures were twice that of those reported by Microsoft for the same quarter.

Tim Cook, the new CEO of Apple, was asked about the impact of lower-priced tablets in the market, like Amazon's Kindle Fire. Cook replied that he was happy with the iPad's sales and pointed out that sell-through had exceeded sell-in, which left the company with strained inventory levels around the world, contradicting the rumors that the Kindle Fire had dampened potential iPad sales. Cook also stated that Apple sees the iPad as a "huge opportunity for Apple over time" and that "there will come a day when the tablet market in units is larger than the PC market."

Tablets are indeed doing very well with almost every name in the tech world offering their own version of the iPad which pioneered the market. However, I don't think that tablets will ever fully replace computers or laptops. Physical keyboards and mouse controls are too ingrained in people and are also extremely necessary for a lot of computing tasks. Sure you can make keyboard docks and mouse attachments, but what's the point?

Cook also pointed out that the rapid growth of iPad sales was eating up the growth of generic PC sales but not hurting the Apple's own Mac sales. It seems that all of Apple's mobile tech gadgets draw in customers for the company's netbooks and desktop computers. Sales of both have been up, and over 1/5 of all Apple Mac sales were through the company's own retail stores.

Four Reasons to Sell a Tablet Notebook

Four Reasons to Sell a Tablet Notebook :

An increasing number of computer users are realizing the value of selling their old computer.  Similar to how there are used car lots willing to purchase your previously owned vehicle, internet companies are there to buy your old computer.  There are plenty of reasons to sell your computer including the environmental factor, the monetary gain, possibility of upgrade, and the value effect.  Remember these four reasons when you ultimately make the decision to sell an Acer Tablet Notebook.

The first reason to sell your notebook is the environmental factor.  While recycling is a preferable option than simply disposing the old one, selling it can be even better for the environment.  It not only decreases the amount of waste being thrown away, it also reduces the amount of material to produce a new computer.  Whoever decides to purchase your computer would have had to buy one of their own.  Thus, by buying your previously owned computer, they no longer need the computer.  This cuts down on electronic waste in two ways.  Not only is there a need for the energy to dispose of or recycle the old computer, but there's also no need to manufacture an entirely new notebook.  By deciding to sell the Acer Table Notebook, you can actually help the environment.

An obvious benefit of selling your notebook is the monetary gain.  Online companies offer cash for computers.  They buy them as an entire unit to either be resold or to be sold part by part.  Either way, you still receive cash for the transaction.  If you are ever looking to make a few extra bucks, think about what can be acquired if you decide to sell the Acer Table Notebook.  One of the most popular forms of computers on the current market, the notebook computer is a hot item among computers for cash online companies.  With the money you receive, you can either purchase something completely different or upgrade to a newer notebook.

Upgrading to a new version is another reason to sell your Acer Tablet Notebook.  Every year manufactures create newer models of their products.  The Acer Tablet Notebook is no exception.  Problems users previously experienced are resolved, improved security features are installed, and additional features are added.  For most common users, it is impossible to afford to buy another computer every time a new model is introduced on the market.  However, that does not mean consumers do not wish to upgrade every couple of years.  Those who wish to buy a newer model simply need to find the money to do so.  Choosing to sell the Acer Table Notebook in its previous version will give you the opportunity to afford the newer one.

The final reason as to why to sell your notebook now rather than later is the value effect.  Most likely, your notebook now has some value to it, as notebooks themselves are still relatively new to the computer world.  However, like any electronic device, changes and innovations are continuing to recreate the computer market.  In just a few short years, your notebook won't be worth nearly as much as it is now.  It is better to go ahead and sell the Acer Table Notebook now while you can still receive a nice sum of money for it.  After selling your notebook, all that's left is deciding what to do with the cash!

Archos 9 Tablet PC Review - Is it the Best Media Internet Tablet For You?

Archos 9 Tablet PC Review - Is it the Best Media Internet Tablet For You?: archos 5 tablet

This article is meant to provide a quick and short review of Archos 9 Tablet PC or internet media tablet as how others refer to it. Those who are on the hunt for information about this product might be wondering if this is worth their money or if it is something that can be an alternative to the iPad. Read our review and find out.

Archos 9 Tablet PC is very chic looking and ergonomically designed to be very user friendly and portable to be carried around. It has an 8.9 inch touch screen display (LED-backlit) with a standard resolution of 1024 x 600. It is powered by 1.2 GHz Intel Atom Z515c processor and has a 60 GB of hard drive and 1 GB of installed DDR2 RAM. It comes with a 1.3 megapixels web cam and built-in stereo speakers. It is Wi-Fi capable and has BlueTooth connectivity.

The internet media tablet looks very promising with the features and added functionality that it offers. However, the touch screen has a sensitivity problem as it can be unresponsive at times. Even with the use of the stylus, one has to sort of heavily tap on the screen to get it right. It is not port friendly as it only has one USB slot. The battery last only for 5 hours whereas some netbooks can last up to 8 hours. Another downside to this tablet PC is it can sometimes take time to load certain programs.

However, not all is bad with the Archos 9. It actually has great features of its own that can make it a stand out. First of all, it runs on the Windows 7 OS so basically it can accommodate most Windows apps like Skype, Messenger and Microsoft Office. It has a bright and crisp screen that can play even HD videos and perfect for quick video chatting with friends and family. It is portable and light as it weighs only less than 2 pounds. It also has a kick stand which is a very useful add on as you can angle and position the tablet for own convenience. And thanks to the optical trackpoint and integrated mouse buttons, the navigation on the interface made it a breeze.

Over all, the Archos has impressive performance and sleek design. It has a great assortment of software installed into it that could get you started with any basic multi-media online activity you might have.

The Android Tablet Ecosystem In A Nutshell

The Android Tablet Ecosystem In A Nutshell: android tablet cases

Since Apple recently announced that the latest iPad will soon be hitting the shelves, it's worth taking a moment to look at the competing tablets currently available. The Android tablet universe is thriving, and offers a thousand and one alternatives to the iPad that are in many cases just as good if not better. Consumers are starting to slowly realize this, although getting a handle on what Android has to offer can be confusing. Here's a quick synopsis of the state of the Android tablet at present.

Overview of the Ecosystem

Like Apple's iOS, Android is merely an operating system that's installed on a variety of devices. Unlike iOS, Android is more open due to the fact that it's based on the Linux kernel. Since its entrance into the tablet marketplace, Android has exploded and can now be found on many different kinds of tablet PCs. At present, the most up to date version is Android 4.0, aka "Ice Cream Sandwich". Most tablets nowadays run Android 3.0 "Gingerbread", which is the tablet-optimized version of the operating system.

Benefits and Advantages

The main advantage of an Android tablet is the same one shared by smart phones using the OS, which is to say that Google's mobile operating system offers choice in large amounts. Android can be installed on a number of different form factors, whereas a tablet version of iOS can be found only on an iPad. While the iPad is a fine device, it offers only one strict set of specifications and features. Android tablets come in all shapes and sizes, including folding models and hybrid tablet-notebook versions.

Some Choice Models

Let's get down to brass tacks and mention a few notable Android tablets that can and should give the iPad a run for its money. The Motorola Xoom is a 10.1-inch powerhouse that boasts up to 64 GB of storage space, a dual-core 1.0 GHz CPU and a 5 MP camera. The Samsung Galaxy Tab is another popular Android model that boasts a powerful Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, loads of storage space and plenty of innovative features. Android tablets also include smaller models like the Kindle Fire and the Asus Memo 370T that are more compact and convenient while offering the same performance as larger devices.

Final Word

Though the Apple PR machine has been doing its best to downplay Android tablets, the truth is that many models offer a user experience that's equal to the iPad at a lower price. In some cases, Android tablets actually surpass Apple's flagship tablet in terms of performance and versatility. Though they got off to a slow start and still trail the iPad when it comes to market share, tablets are poised to explode in the coming year. Regardless of what you're looking for in a tablet, chances are good that there's an Android tablet out there that suits your needs perfectly.

Android tablet maybe a best Tablet Personal Computer

Android tablet maybe a best Tablet Personal Computer :

No one person can pass judgment on someone else as to what they "need". I can see a lot of legitimate uses for a tablet even to a budget-conscious household.By that logic, no one on a budget should own a computer either.I will probably be looking to upgrade my current android tablet to something new around mid year. Hopefully by then there will be some win8 options out or on the horizon.

Why do people assume that if you do not find android inspiring that you must have an iPhone? I have a WP7 which does everything i need a phone to do. Keep me connected with my social accounts, with the tightest integration since web os, be snappy and responsive, have all the popular apps I need, an extremely fast browser which has been proven to be faster than browsers with gingerbread, no freezing, no silly bugs, and innovative ui, not one inspired by Apple.

And as i have said in many of my post i'm one of the few people on here who has owned android, blackberry,iOS,web os,symbian, and now windows phone 7.  So yes there is nothing inspiring about the android ICS user experience that would make me go back to appkillerville.

What a pointless review.  You can sketch on an iPad or any other tablet with a fat capacitive stylus.  We don't care about silly little doodles. The one thing we really want to know is how good the thing is for actually taking notes in small tight handwriting or print?  Can it replace a classroom notebook or not?  That's the holy grail of stylus pads.  Until they do that, they're just gimmicks.Did you just take down my comment because I pointed out how your 6+ minute video didn't even address the most important aspect of this tablet (how accurately it writes?).I am a big fan of Samsung, but they simply have too much options available on the android tablet front.

They should simple make a few and concentrate on those. I'm bored of seeing these variances every other week.

Can you quit putting words in my mouth. I never said that the iPad wasn't user friendly. Nor did I say that anyone should spend $ 500 dollars to upgrade to the new iPad. Since you seem to lack sense let me spell it out more clearly. Apple improves the specs on the iPad to ensure that the device remains relivant, fast and the best (or one of the best) tablets. Doing that ensures a great user experience which is all that matters.Ok what the hell is the difference between the new tab 10.1 & the note 10.1. Are they serious, and they wonder why they not doing so good in tablets. I don't Samsung & the rest of the android tablet makers get it.

The secret Windows tablets of CES

The secret Windows tablets of CES :

The secret Windows tablets of CES

Asus, Fujitsu, MSI, Samsung and Motion aren't the only PC makers with Windows slates at CES, although they're the ones you'll see shipping first (in fact you can order the Asus Eee Slate EP121 this month).

There are companies you may not have heard of doing Windows slates (like Viliv and Netbook). And then there are some tablet PC makers who are being a bit more cautious. Toshiba has its Windows 7 slate rotating in a case on its stand, carefully labelled as a technology demonstration.

Whatever product that turns into will ship in the US only initially; Toshiba Europe will have a Windows tablet "as soon as possible when we understand the European requirements" Toshiba president Alan Thompson told us.

The other Windows tablets we've seen at CES haven't been on the show floor as products that are ready to ship; they're prototypes of products we won't see for a while and some are tucked away in private meeting rooms but they're evidence that not all the PC manufacturers are going to wait for the slate improvements expected in Windows 8.

Not iPad, LePad

Lenovo is bringing its hybrid LePad Android/Windows combo tablet/notebook out in China first and that might also be the first place it sells the prototype 10.1-inch Windows 7 tablet we caught sight of.

ACTIVE PEN: The prototype Lenovo Windows slate has a multitouch screen – and an active pen for smpoth inking and drawing

Lenovo tells us it has plans to bring this Oak Trail Intel Atom tablet out in 2011 and didn't say any more, but we learned a little more from looking at the system. We didn't get an official name, but the PC name in Windows is the LT10.

The prototype has a 1.5GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, a 32GB SSD plus USB and SD ports tucked away behind a hinged flap and a dock connector on the bottom edge. It has a 1280 x 800 screen with combined finger touch and an active digitiser for the pen. Both gave us a nice smooth touch experience.

The custom Lenovo interface (divided into Work and Play) has big, finger-friendly icons and it's much more responsive than the convertible IdeaPad S10 netbooks we've tried. Windows was reporting battery life of around six hours with Wi-Fi on (less than the eight hours Motion is promising from its similar slate).

CUSTOM UI: Can't face touching the Start menu? Lenovo's custom interface is simple but finger friendly

Lenovo is also planning some nifty accessories, like a desk stand for the pen that holds it upright and ready to grab and a keyboard with a recess for the slate to dock into, as well as a simple dock that's a stand and charging cradle together.

Acer has been getting attention for the dual-screen Iconia notebook Microsoft showed off in its CES keynote, but we also found an Iconia slate in the private Microsoft PC showcase. It's another 10.1-inch screen with 2GB of RAM and a 32GB SSD, but this time running on an AMD CPU.

ONE SCREEN: The slightly less iconic Iconia; instead of a second screen, this prototype has a detachable keyboard

It's a nice sleek slate running Windows 7 Home Premium and weighing 2.2lb but what makes it stand out is the excellent detachable keyboard. This connects to the standard USB port placed on the bottom edge (where many manufacturers are putting a custom dock connector) with two lugs to keep it in place and a flap at the back to help you fold it down when you want to close the laptop you've just converted it into.

When we enthused about being able to rip off the keyboard and leave it at home to lighten the load, Microsoft told us about another tablet coming from Portland-based CTL (a small PC maker with the advantage of being geographically close to Intel, who came out with the $ 499 2go Pad SL10 for the education market last year).

Their Oak Trail Atom prototype has a detachable keyboard with an extra battery in, which will double battery life – from ten hours up to 20.

It's a well known fact people can save money buying things online and equally as well known when you buy them during the January sales that are on in shops through cities and towns of the world right after the Christmas holidays are over. And the same thing applies online as well with many websites and electrical retailers slashing prices and putting on special offers and cheap deals for many of the most popular items such as the Apple iPad.

If you have ever held an iPad in your hands and had a chance to play with it a little then you would have probably found it exciting and fun. But it doesn't end there. The iPad is capable of doing many things that you probably wasn't even aware of.

Reasons Why You Should Shop for a Refurbished iPad

What makes people buy the iPad in the first place? Is it the touchscreen technology? Because of all the games you can play on it? How easy it is to do web browsing and read emails on it? All in the comfort of your two hands. And you can do this anywhere at any time with the iPad.

These are just some of the main things you can do on the iPad. But whether you use it for personal use or are a business minded person and require the iPad for the business tools and business apps available on it like the LinkedIn app, Adobe Reader, Quickoffice Pro, Outlook Email and CV Writer to name but a few you will find it can help you reach new heights and expand your business potential.

For gamers the iPad is the next generation gaming tablet. Games played on the iPad are awesome and even better when played in full HD quality. The amount of games that are on the App store is amazing. Gamers are spoilt for choice by which kind of games to download and install whether you be a driver, a first person shooter or like your strategy games. The iPad is perfect for you and will keep you entertained for hours.

Aside from these great reasons the next one to take into consideration is the money you would save when buying a refurbished iPad as opposed to buying a brand new one. In some places you can save up to
