Acer Tablet Pc Windows 7 Videos

This is me showing off the ~16 second bootup time of my W500 tablet, which achieves this impressive time through a combination of the latest BIOS update & Windows 8 Developer Preview :) I was going to sell it, but then I decided I would miss it.

  1. Thanks man! Got it! I have tested Windows 8 consumer preview on an old Lenovo R61 and it's fast! I don;t mind the Metro UI because its simply a clean version of the desktop. You see all desktops becomes cluttered over time because users always create shortcuts on to it. In true form the metro ui is like your desktop clutter but presented in a better way.

  2. Also folks, this video was taken using the Windows 8 consumer preview.
I am now running the release preview & the start up time goes down to 13 or 14 seconds.

This is so very much faster than Windows 7, I would say that it will be worth upgrading to windows 8 just for the speed. Using Windows 7, this tablet is sluggish. No such problems with Windows 8 :)

  9. To be completely honest, if you only want it for basic stuff or if you find one for cheap (your local equivalent to about £200 - £250), then this would be fine, but if you want it for anything more, I would wait & buy a proper windows 8 tablet.

This device is underpowered compared to most other tablets & is made from really cheap parts. That being said, its still fun to use.

  11. There is only 32GB of storage in the W500, so I just formatted the lot during installation.
Most of the things, wifi, camera, graphics etc, all worked strait out the box. The only things that didn't really work was the orientation change. The hardware is still working perfectly :D No problems at all ^___^

  12. Did you have to wipe the W7 install, or did you choose to partition? I am going to purchase one of these soon, but don't want to update to the preview if I'm only going to be installing W8 come November anyway. Also, how did you go with Acer related drivers and W8? Any hardware compatibility issues to date?

  13. GIRL DIED IN 1993, A MAN BURIED HER IN HER OWN home GIRLwhen she was still alive. The murderer chanted, "Toma sota balcu" as he buried her. Now that you have read the chant, you will meet this little girl. In the middle of the ............night she will stand at the side of your bed starring straight into your eyes. She will suffocate you for revenge of when she was suffocated. This story is sadly true. If you post this 5 differnt times she will not bother you

  16. Yeah, I installed it on there myself using a USB DVD drive, but you can put the files onto a USB stick & install it from there. There are loads of tutorials on the web of how to install Windows from a USB stick :)

Installing Windows8 is incredibly simple & fast :D

  17. Did you install windows 8 on there? Cause if so, was it simply just installing it on there, or because of it being a tablet, did you had to go through a more complex way to get it to work on there?

  20. It seems a good match for WIndows 8. Do you know how many touch points it supports? I've tried to find a video of someone using Paint (say) on the w500 to see if you can use 5 or even 10 brushes at once like the Iconia 6120. Or is it just two fingers or what? I'm interested for music, to use as an on-screen playable keyboard, I'm a music software developer. Thanks
