linux tablet pc Videos

We broke news of the development of the Ubuntu Linux Tablet before Christmas, now we've managed to score some hands on time with the 10 inch touch screen machine. Full specification and pricing can be seen over at: www.gizchina.com/2011/01/24/ubuntu-tablet-specification-pricing--announced/

Enlightenment Desktop on Linux Tablet PC Demo
Linux powered, Enlightenment desktop with a touch screen optimized interface running on an Asus T101MT Tablet/Netbook covert-able. Video was done using both a video camera and GTK-recordmydesktop. This was done to ensure users could see the touch screen in action and still be able to read the text on screen clearly. Video was edited using OpenShot video editor. The operating system is Bodhi Linux - bodhilinux.com - and the Enlightenment module that is the launcher is ELFE Background songs are Learn to Fly, by the Foo Fighters followed up by Troublemaker from Weezer.

  6. No, no need for google spyware and google account. Ubuntu is much better than android, since it's not bundled with google account and no data gets transferred to google either! :P
There is a netbook remix which has a nice GUI usable for tablets

  8. This linux idea is nice! Sadly this tablet has a fan :( I wish it was ultra low voltage without fan, so that it could be (slightly) rain durable. So you could use it outside, load it with mobile solar panel and use it inside your tent :D I really hope this low wattage means no fans in future and that linux runs natively and that 12V DC is supported :)

  14. It's not what linux looks like. Linux can look like almost anything you want (if you have the time and patience to configure it). That's the beauty of linux.

  19. : It's only ONE environment for Linux ;) ! But I have to admit, for something that new, it's pretty good.
Still, take a look at Plasma Active (the KDE alternative for Tablets and Smartphone) : development has just begun but it seems something stable should be available soon, it's a matter of mounths. It'll be incredibly awesome.

Don't think I'm trolling, E17 > KDE in many many ways... but on those kind of devices, I guess E17 will need more time before releasing the awesomeness.

  21. Seems nice. Would like to see a tablet based on it, (perhaps have Android app compatibility to help with gaining acceptance?)
