The Google Nexus S Boasts The Latest Version Of The Android Operating System: google nexus specs

Google has just released the second installment of their Nexus smartphone series. The first was manufactured by HTC, however this time around the internet giants have opted for Samsung to produce their high end android Smartphone.

The Google Nexus S measures 123.9x 63x 10.9 mm and weighs in at 129 g. It is therefore rather pocket friendly and slimline considering the amount of technology within. The facia is dominated by a generously proportioned 4 inch super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen which utilises a pixel layout of 480x 800 to display up to 16 million colours. The screen has an impressive spec list in its own right, boasting features including multi-touch input support, touch-sensitive shortcut panel, proximity, accelerometer and gyro sensors, and an oleophobic surface which prevents the build up of fingerprints and smudges when using the touch screen.

Alongside 512 MB RAM, the Google Nexus S offers a generous 16 GB of internal storage. This is more than capable of storing a large music collection, or selection of video clips, photos, documents or downloaded apps. Due to this level of storage, the need for a microSD slot or any other expandable storage is simply not necessary.

Whilst GPRS & EDGE keep the handset connected to the appropriate cellular networks on the move, Google Nexus S relies on 3G coverage for its initial means of Internet access, whereby an HSDPA connection provides download speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second. In order to enjoy a faster Internet browsing experience, users can take advantage of local wireless networks thanks to full Wi-Fi connectivity. Of course the standard Bluetooth and micro USB connections also included allowing users to connect to compatible hardware devices.

The Google Nexus S is also a competent camera phone boasting 5 mega pixel offering which operates at 2560x 1920 pixels, resulting in still images of the utmost clarity and quality. Auto-focus, touch-focus and an LED flash are all provided to improve the quality of photos, and simultaneously simplify the task of taking them. Geo-tagging is included which, thanks to GPS, automatically tracks the location at which photos were taken. As an alternative to taking still images, users also have the luxury of shooting video footage using this camera, and this is in WVGA quality at a rate of 30 frames per second. An additional VGA camera is located on the front of the phone, allowing video calls to take place.

Google has included the latest version of its wildly popular Android OS, version 2.3 aka Gingerbread. In conjunction with a 1 GHz processor, users are guaranteed a fast user experience and a powerful platform for customising their phone with downloadable apps from the Android Market. The standard list of features includes numerous multimedia and entertainment applications as well as productivity calls and social networking integration.

As you can see, the Google Nexus S is one of the most advanced Smartphones available, utilising the best available hardware and software alike. This is a Smartphone which ticks all the boxes and is futureproof thanks to its operating system which is upgradeable when new versions are released.
