This short demonstration gives a tutorial on how to map in ArcGIS software using a tablet PC with a GPS receiver attached. Equipment used: Tablet PC is an HP 2710P, the GPS receiver attaches at the USB port and is made by Rayming, and the software is ESRI's ArcGIS ver. 9.x.

  1. Looks to me like an Android tablet cannot map. Can you use a pen and GPS to map you're own points w/ an Android? It doesn't look like it to me. So, yes, this method, using a real tablet PC is a lot of work, but it is the only way, right now, to map (do GIS) in real-time. That is the main problem that I see, with the Mac version of the Android, the iPad. You cannot make your own maps. If I'm wrong, please direct me to videos showing someone making their own maps using an Android.
