Yep, the GPS feature is build into the WWAN Module. A SIM card and data plan is required to make it work I believe. No, it doesn't need a dedicated module.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand... does a wwan module handle the gps? So gps doesn't need a dedicated module? Do I need a sim card and data plan for the gps, and what are the costs? I intend to upgrade my w520 with a wwan module (not Ericsson) and I'm pretty excited if it comes with gps capability.
ReplyDeleteHi, why you have windows xp on that powerful machine?, is there any particular reason?
ReplyDeleteI have a Sierra MC8775 wwan card......and I'm new to this sort of stuff. Can anyone tell me if a 1.8mbps can be upgraded to a 7.2mbps using firmware?
ReplyDeleteItem detail
■USB ID: 1199:6804
■HSDPA UMTS (2100MHz)
■Max speed 1.8Mbps
Yep they are the same as the ones used in cell phones or Blackberry's.
ReplyDeleteIf your phone has a data plan, it "MAY" work, but I wouldn't recommend it. You'll probably incur a HUGE bill if you do... I have one on a special data plan.. it would be the data plans you'd get if you got one of those Netbooks or Rocket Sticks.
Great video thx. sent u a message please if ure so kind to respond appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteSASO
What about the gps??
ReplyDeleteYea sorry about that :(. I had to cut some out to make it under the 10 minute mark for YouTube...
ReplyDeleteI could get the USB stick from Roger's for FREE, but then you'd be locked into a 2 year contract whereas buying the device on eBay myself means I'm on a month to month and can cancel anytime, without the $600 early cancellation fees. Also, the GPS with the Ericsson module works VERY well!
ReplyDeleteI still love it! You won't be disappointed!
ReplyDeletei dont get why this screen looks more flush than the 201 model ive seen. Should be the other way around
ReplyDeleteSeparate. That sucks.
ReplyDeleteReally helpful stuff. I'm looking at buying the x201 with the ultrabase. I'm just wondering if you had to add the DVD drive to the base or did it just come that way?
ReplyDeleteWhat display did you get? The outdoor / MT / regular one? Could you make a vid showing the viewing angels, brightness and say something about energy consumption and noise? Thanks :-)
ReplyDeleteYou haven't done your homework between this and the UltraBase video :). The mystical port on the back of UltraBase is a DisplayPort, a digital external monitor port, kind of like DVI.
ReplyDeleteabout 4 weeks i have a new x200. it's a fucking porn nootebook. multitouch like apple is also easy to use and the display and keyboard are awesome!
ReplyDeleteAn update to this... Windows 7 recognizes my fingers, on both hands, so it does have multi-touch capabilties after all.
ReplyDeleteSo check out my other video or tell me what you want to see...
ReplyDeleteHey please can you update this information does it recognize stylus and finger input both or not??
ReplyDeleteI am just about to buy this laptop great video very helpful thanks. I am going to buy it online so good video to have the whole feel of the laptop before buying it. Cheers
