and this device is 200 dollars.
ReplyDeleteunlike the ipad.
Memory CAN be expanded by rooting and installing an application, then connecting a USB drive via a micro-USB to USB adapter.
ReplyDeleteI actually think this is quite a nice alternative...compared to spending $20 on a microSD card, I could spend $2 for the adapter and use my own, large-sized USB drive.
yes.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you care? Maybe it´s the lack of the camera.
ReplyDeleteWow, no SD slot? Seriously?
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable. What were they thinking?! Oh I know, it'll, perhaps, be in the NEXT Nexus 7...
Still, great, great price.
As always, great review Michael.
I like it , gonna buy the 16GB version , there are a couple of things missing like the lack of a MicroSD card slot , a 3G option , I don't think I'm gonna like the always-portrait homescreens but that's not a problem since there are some decent 3rd party launchers on the Play Store. The main problem is ( once again ) the non expandable storage , but there is no such thing as a perfect device , besides , IT IS A NEXUS , first device to get official updates for the next 2-3 years !!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAsus fucked up the nexus 7 with the screen problems both of mine suffer screen separation on the left side. I hate you Asus!
ReplyDelete340 grams 12 ounce weight thats so lightweight.....the speech recognition is brilliant for research....u know its a quality product because Google partnered with Asus to build it
ReplyDeleteI'm not to bummed about the lack of SD slot. I had the galaxy tab 2 and bought a 32 gig sd card and I used almost none of it. ICS removed being able to install apps to the card so basically its only for media. I use google music and if I pin songs there is no way to save them to the SD unless you manually move them. So basically my SD card was useless without jumping through hoops. I think the 16 gig one is going to be enough for me. I love it so far, I've only picked up my iPad3 once.
ReplyDeleteGreat review. I'm undecided between the iPad3 or this Nexus 7 when it comes out in The Netherlands, but I'm leaning toward the Nexus now. The grid view seems a bit boring, after five years.
ReplyDeletecan i install pirated apps in nexus 7 ??
ReplyDeletePretty much agree with Magatwister. Gave your post a thumbs up.

ReplyDeleteman, can you name all the new upcoming 7 inch tablets that will have the NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor? please
ReplyDeleteAh, first thing you see when opening the Popular Science magazine preview is Flo. Awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you want a camera app, get camera ICS for free from the play store or camera ICS+ for an ad free $1.00 version

ReplyDeletenetflix works perfectly on android, hulu does work but you need to buy an app called flash video browser, 99cent app. there is no dedicated hulu app for android ( free version )
ReplyDeletethere is only one for hulu+ paid version. pandora does work, crackle app also works ( free movies ) some advertisements like hulu's but it's free lol
