www.tweaktown.com There are only a few tablets on the market where the operating system and the hardware are all made in house. The Apple iPad is the most famous, Blackberry has the Playbook and now we've got HP releasing the TouchPad. However, unlike the iPad, both the Playbook and the Touchpad launched with a somewhat beta-ish feeling. The operating systems on both units are glitchy at launch, but I'm happy to say that the Playbook has matured nicely into a market ready tablet in just a few short months. HP's TouchPad seems to have a similar pattern, but has only been on the market a few weeks, so they've got a few major updates to go before they get there. Having said that WebOS, the TouchPad's OS, is a great piece software. It seems naturally suited to the 9.7-inch screen size, with a card-based interface that makes multitasking easy and even fun. There's no rear-facing camera and the selection of native apps available for the device is minimal, but for basic browsing, emailing and reading, the device performs beautifully and the app selection should only get better in time. To recap the specs of the TouchPad we've got a 9.7-inch IPS display with a 1024 x 768 resolution (same as the iPad), a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8060 chip, 1GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, a front-facing 1.3MP camera, 802.11a Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, stereo speakers with Beats audio enhancement and various sensors including light, accelerometer, compass and gyroscope.

  5. You're very welcome. Due respect you helped me decide. Since, my boys want one, my mother bought one and we now have addon leather look case with built-in keyboard (£6.44 from amazon). I am very happy with it since although it is slightly smaller than a Xoom and such, it is much less than half the cost and pretty much just as good from what I see so far. I will soon get a 32gb SD card for it for about £16 again from Amazon. A great product for those on a budget... Again, Ty !

  6. Thanks for the comment, yes the new version has a much improved screen. Capacitive type screens are far more responsive than resistive ones.

  8. Thanks for the update. Yes the new version of the M009S has a much stronger spac and the capacitive screen should be much more responsive. It's got a higher powered processor too.

  10. i would recomend something like an arnova 7 g3, there is a few similar spec capacitive and fast icecream sandwich tabs popping up for a resnoble price of £99, they even play 3D games like minecraft pocket, etc, it has about the same performance if not better than say an apple ipod/phone 3gs, also full flash support so mostly all websites load no problems, no android market but you can find apps through other means, no problem :)

I've just bought one... but it's not the same infact much better.1.2mhz processor 400mhzgfx processor 1gbram 8gb storage. has 4.0.3 ICS installed. had to update flash so BBC iPlayer and CatchUpTv works seemlessly and 3d games run smooth ! very impressed so far.ONLY hope is that it lasts. Oh and mine is a generic Tabtronics version and I paid £98 inc next day delivery. Recommended !

  14. The NATPC M009S I've seen advertised on Amazon states that it features a capacitive screen...

  15. I got it from Hardware Heroes... I sent it back and they still have not given me a refund and keep saying they will do it soon... I am pretty sure it was a fake also... and mine looked nothing like yours

  16. Thanks for the information. I think I'll look for another one. Or I'll get a Kindle.

  17. Although it will let you download and read ebooks using a reader like the Kindle App, the screen isn't great so there's a fair bit of glare you'd get off it. It's also not particularly bright/sharp so I think if you really want an e-reader and aren't fussed about the other tablet PC features then probably best to go for a Kindle itself.
